Carbognano is a small historical village full of tradition.
It is located approximately 500 metres above sea level, in the Viterbo area hills that are close to Monti Cimini, only 40 km away from Rome and 20 Km from Viterbo, Carbognano was an important strategic garrison during the expansion of the Roman Empire in northern areas.
The imposing Castello Farnese, built in 1250, was owned by the Orsini family and successively by the Farnese family. The castle stands in the heart of the historical centre, surrounded by ancient houses and narrow alleys full of churches: the Duomo di San Pietro, the churches of Santa Maria, Sant'Anna and Sant'Eutizio (patron of the village) with its frescoes, San Filippo and the small ninth-century church of Santa Lucia.
Carbognano, immersed in an agriculture based rural landscape , is famous for its hazel cultivations (PDO quality) and its chestnuts woods, olive groves and vineyards. Surrounded by nature parks like the Monti Cimini reserve, in Carbognano there is a pleasant climate mitigated by the proximity of Lago di Vico.
